Walker’s Music & Movies 2012 Lineup Announced

Time to dust off that picnic basket! Earlier today, the Walker Art Center announced the schedule for this year’s Music & Movies series, July 30-August 20. Each movie will be paired with a performance by various local bands from the Twin Cities. This year’s film selections play off the theme “In Dreams.”

The first three events will be held in Loring Park every Monday from July 30 through August 20th. The final event will conclude the series at the Walker’s Open Field with a silent film and live music commission by the band Brute Heart playing an original score to the silent classic The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (Monday, August 20).

DJs for 89.3 The Current will also be spinning music between the intermissions at each event.

July 30th – Loring Park

Music: Night Moves
Film: “Spellbound” by Alfred Hitchcock

August 6th

Music: Oliver Mtukudzi and the Black Spirits
Film: “Artist and Models” by Frank Tashlin

August 13th

Music: Rogue Valley
Film: The City of Lost Children

August 20th (Music/film both begin at 8:45 in the Walker Open Field)

Music: Brute Heart
Film: “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” by Robert Weine
